Revisiting Some Old Cards

Sometimes, I like a card so much that once it sells, I want to make it again.  And sometimes, I don't like it enough that I want to re-do it.  This weekend was spent making lots of old designs.

I keep looking for ways to use the embossed foils - here's another example.  The original card was portrait and I felt that if I turned it landscape, it would leave more room to the left of the sentiment and balance the card better.  Below is the original card:

The first time I created this card I didn't like it.  So I changed it!  A lot!

Below is the original card.  The colors just didn't pop, the scallop was too large, the font was too wishy-washy, the flowers too simple, the leaves too pale.  I really like the orange and green color scheme of the new card.  I'd love to see a section in the Pazzles Craftroom where we can get advise from the pros on how to make a better design, but have it be a forum as well.  I haven't taken advantage yet of the Designer Chat - hard to do when I craft on the weekends.

And this is one of my favorite designs.

The first card I made actually got sold before I took a picture of it.  Here's the second one:
I must have something against yellow - you'll seldom find a card of mine that is mostly yellow!  I might still need to redesign this card so there is room for the ribbon on the left.  I didn't include a ribbon on the new card except on the left side of the tag - I like the rounded corners to show.

Please leave me a message if you have any suggestions for creative designs or just a critique of these cards.  Thanks!

Pazzles February Challenge

This month's challenge on the Pazzles Craftroom site was truly a challenge.  It was to create a card with the bendi-card form.

It took a long time for me to finally settle on a design.  Love the way the card can be displayed.  Hope I win the challenge!

Cards, cards and more cards!

I just love working with my Pazzles Inspiration.  So many different things to do!

Instead of using the pen tool for the "Happy", I cut out the letters and popped them off the page with pop dots.

The Pazzles software has a tool for Embroidery holes that made this design so easy!

This card was much more difficult than I expected - but I finally got it!

Found some double-sided paper that made this card really pop.

Hope you enjoyed this week's cards.  Feel free to leave me a message.

Back to our regular programming...

I decided to get back to creating just regular cards this weekend.  My speed was much better working with my usual materials - got 14 cards done yesterday and today.

Of all the wonderful Pazzles tools, I get the biggest kick out of the AutoTrace.  I just love to watch it work.  Found this rocking horse online and ended up with the perfect little picture for the card.

This last card is my personal favorite of the weekend.  I used the Pazzles Library file for the Dandelions.

Embellishing Embossed Foil Cards

Still  having lots of fun with the foil embossing.  I decided that I needed to add some embellishment to the cards.  This is a set of animal cards - I still have more to complete.

Some simple borders add a lot of punch.  I cut these out on my Pazzles Inspiration.

It took me 3 tries to get a border I liked for the bear.  Started off with a pine tree on the right, then some leaves, but I didn't like the effect.  Finally thought of the paw prints and I like that.  The frog border is a portion of the Tropical Leaf from the Pazzles Library.

For the dolphin, I found a great wave in the Library.  I just welded it to the border of 2 boxes that are 1/2-inch different in size.  I remembered a very pretty line drawing of a hummingbird and ungrouped it and used just the flower for the lower card.  Since the design is very delicate, I chose to use it as a cutout instead of a border embellishment.

And finally, my favorite 2 of this set.  I didn't really like the turtle before I colored it, but it turned out to be one of my faves.  And I knew the duck would look great in the foil.  I also love the cattails.

I'm planning cards with flowers and a set of birds next.  I'll be trying something new with those as well.

Hope you enjoyed these cards.  Please feel free to leave me a message!
